IowaPolitics.com: Republican attempt to bring marriage amendment to House floor fails

An attempt by Republicans to bring a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage up for a vote in the Iowa House failed this morning on a 54-45 vote. Rep. Dolores Mertz, D-Ottosen, was the only Democrat to vote with Republicans.
