U.S. Sen Harkin: Announces nearly $4 million for improvements to Van Buren County Hospital 3/2/2010 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Kate Cyrul / Bergen Kenny March 2, 2010 (202) 224-3254 Harkin Announces Nearly $4 Million for Improvements to Van Buren County Hospital WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that a loan of $3,871,000 and grant of $100,000 have been awarded to the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua for the expansion and rehabilitation of the existing facilities. The funding comes through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Community Facility Program. Harkin is a senior member of the panel that funds rural development initiatives. “In order to best serve our state and keep Iowans healthy, it is important that we continue to provide funding for our hospitals to grow, improve and use the most up to date technology,” said Harkin. “Today’s funds will provide the Van Buren County Hospital with the resources and facilities to continue to provide needed medical services to residents in Southeast Iowa.” This project will include the relocation and expansion of the dietary department, redesign of the existing clinical space, expansion of the cardiac rehabilitation program and other updates throughout the hospital. |
