Reed Campaign: Reed to participate in IPTV debate 5/22/2008 Contact: Christopher Reed (319) 929-3910 Marion Christopher Reed, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, today accepted an invitation to participate in a televised debate at the IPTV studios in Johnston, Iowa. The debate is being hosted by the Polk County Republicans at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008. I am looking forward to this debate, said Reed. I have been traveling the state, and many voters are looking for a reason to go to the polls June 3rd and now they have it. Reed will be debating with George Eichhorn. Steve Rathje has declined the invitation. Eichhorn and Rathje are also vying for the Republican nomination to take on Sen. Tom Harkin. Iowa voters want to know how each of us stands on the issues. A rehearsed speech and an update on Iowa legislative happenings are not going to stand a chance when it comes to talking about how things in Washington are running, said Reed. I want the voters to know how I stand on issues of interest to Republicans, so then they can go to the polls on June 3rd and vote for me. I am not taking this race for granted. I am in it to win. I want to go to Washington and take on the tax code, immigration, the 2nd amendment and the other issues that Republicans feel passionately about, commented Reed. I am the only true conservative in this race, and I want Iowans to feel comfortable asking me questions and knowing where I stand on the issues. Reed commented, I want to thank Mr. Ted Sporer and the Polk County Republicans for sponsoring this debate. They are helping Iowans to make the informed decision in this primary race. Christopher Reed was born and raised in Solon, Iowa. He served 5 years in the U.S. Navy and now is a small business owner in Cedar Rapids. Christopher is married and has 3 children. |
