Culver Campaign: To air TV commercial on balancing the budget 10/16/2009 Contact: Andrew Roos Phone: (515) 244-5151 andrew@chetculver.com Des Moines – The Culver/Judge Campaign announced Friday that it would be airing a television commercial titled “Balanced Budget” starting immediately. The ad highlights the tough decisions Governor Culver has made in response to shrinking revenue estimates for the state’s budget. Unlike many other states, the Governor’s decisive action has allowed Iowa to maintain a rainy day fund and avoid raising taxes. “The Governor’s decision last week to make an across the board cut of 10% was an incredibly bold and decisive action to balance the budget without raising taxes,” said Campaign Manager Andrew Roos. Roos continued “He didn’t pass the buck. He acted swiftly, and he has even cut his own pay. We will be airing television advertisements to help communicate the importance of these difficult budget decisions.” The ad can be viewed here: http://www.chetculver.com/balanced-budget The text of the ad is here: “No one likes to make tough decisions, but as Governor it’s my responsibility. Instead of passing the buck to the legislature, Or raising taxes, I chose to cut state spending and cut my own pay to balance the budget. I chose to rebuild our state after the floods, I chose to invest in new industries, to preserve and create new jobs. I chose tough medicine today, to build a stronger Iowa for tomorrow.” |
