Dix Campaign: Bill Dix announces bid for the Iowa Senate 10/28/2009 Contact: Bill Dix (319) 269-3664 or BillDixCampaign@gmail.com For Immediate Release: Tuesday, October 27, 2009 WAVERLY, IA – Bill Dix, of Shell Rock, announced today he will work to be the next State Senator in District 9. The district covers all of Butler County, Bremer County, part of Fayette County, including Oelwein, and part of Black Hawk County. Dix said today, “It is time to fix the out of control mess in Des Moines. Iowans deserve better representation than having our elected officials approve the largest budget in Iowa history earlier this year while every family and business has been pinching their pennies. We need to provide real solutions to change the way government does business. Today we are here at a small business where they are not only keeping jobs, they hope to add seven more. Iowa needs more small businesses, not more government.” Bill and Gerri Dix run a fruit and vegetable farm. They have three children; Michael (11), Will (10), and Libby (8). Bill has been active with local youth sports, the Waverly Rotary, the Shell Rock Lions Club and a participant in the Shell Rock Spring Swing Show. Gerri Dix said, “I am proud of my husband. Decisions like this are made at a family level and the kids were involved in the discussion. We need to get back to common sense government that controls their pocketbook just like the rest of us have to control ours.” Joining Dix at his press conference today was Senate Republican Leader, Paul McKinley, “Bill Dix's experience as a successful farmer, businessman and in the Iowa House of Representatives gives him the knowledge to lead Iowa forward and reign in the out of control state spending supported by Bill Heckroth and Chet Culver.” Also in attendance today was Ed Failor, Jr., President of Iowans for Tax Relief, in support of Bill Dix, “We have the opportunity now to stop trying to patch problems and actually fix government because without real change the state will suffer again in the next economic downturn. Iowans need Bill Dix in the Iowa Senate because he has the fortitude to make the tough decisions.” Dix concluded, “We must work together to fix government. I want to hear your ideas and concerns so I will be knocking on your front door soon, you will see me at local events, and you can call me any time at (319) 269-3664.” ### |
