New Effort “Innovate Iowa: a Best and Brightest Forum on Medical Innovation” Brings Former US House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt, Governor Chet Culver, and Innovation Leaders Together in Des Moines, IA

Council for American Medical Innovation and The Iowa Biotechnology Association Host Forum Focusing On

‘Achieving Recovery Through Discovery’

WHAT:

The goal of this forum is to bring together representatives to preserve and foster Iowa’s future innovations. Guests include economic leaders, academic scholars, researchers, biopharmaceutical company representatives and other stakeholders, to discuss how Iowa can raise public awareness of the issue and become a leader in biopharmaceutical medical innovation.

Iowa is seeing the effects of a “brain drain” in the fields of medical innovation. Iowa is constantly the target of recruiting by all the fortune 500 companies. As the most literate state in the union with the most private colleges per capita, it is well known that Iowa creates a wealth of bright and talented future researchers, nurses, doctors, engineers, and scientists. Unfortunately too many of these highly skilled individuals leave Iowa after college. Part of the focus of this forum is aimed at keeping this workforce in Iowa and to grow a successful and sustainable biopharmaceutical industry capitalizing on the academic institutions and bio-agricultural infrastructure already present in the state.
