Congressman Boswell… Still Charlie Rangel’s $50,000 Man

Boswell keeps the cash and keeps silent

DES MOINES – The Republican Party of Iowa today said Congressman Leonard Boswell’s continued silence speaks volumes as he is refusing to return campaign contributions from his ethically-plagued colleague, Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY), who today stepped down as the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee following disclosures of his trips to the Caribbean sponsored by powerful corporate interests.

“Congressman Boswell’s silence on this issue speaks volumes. Instead of standing on the side of honest government, he followed in Nancy Pelosi’s footsteps, just as he’s done with the federal takeover of health care, a cap-and-trade-energy tax and the federal stimulus,” said Iowa GOP Executive Director Jim Anderson.

Anderson also noted that Boswell has received approximately $50,000 in campaign cash from Rangel. “Other Democrats who received money from Rangel have given it to charities, citing ethical standards, but apparently Boswell has no problem lining his campaign pockets with Rangel’s tainted cash. He’ll pay for that misplaced loyalty when voters go to the polls in November,” Anderson concluded.
