Representative Tom Latham Could Have Cost Iowa Families $1,115 in Tax Cuts

A report released this week from the Citizens for Tax Justice shows that if Representative Tom Latham had his way, Iowa families would receive $1,115 less in tax cuts. The major tax cuts enacted under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which Latham voted against, reduced federal income taxes for tax year 2009 for 98 percent of all working people.

“As April 15th fast approaches, Iowa families in Representative Tom Latham’s district will remember how he opposed $1,115 in tax cuts under the Economic Recovery Act,” said Ryan Rudominer, spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Representative Latham’s objection to significant tax relief while continuing to stand on the side of Wall Street special interests in these tough economic times proves yet again how out of touch Latham is with the pain of hardworking people.”
