Efficient government, reducing tax burden top priorities

DES MOINES – Dave Funk kicked off his campaign for Polk County Supervisor today after being nominated by a special convention Tuesday night. Funk is challenging incumbent Democrat Tom Hockensmith in Polk County’s 3rd supervisor district.

“It’s time for a change of philosophy in Polk County government. It’s time we elect a Supervisor who is willing to go to Des Moines and fight for fiscal responsibility, smaller government, and lower taxes. Polk County needs a supervisor who will remain loyal to his constituents,” Funk said.

Funk added, “Polk County has immediate potential to be the best place to do business in Iowa. By getting government out of the way and fostering a fair, business-friendly environment, we can realize that potential.As Polk County Supervisor, I will do everything I can to make Polk County the job-creating economic engine it should be.”

Funk was joined by Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Matt Strawn and GOP Lieutenant Governor Nominee Kim Reynolds for the announcement.

Strawn said, “The Iowa GOP is committed to winning elections at every level of elected office this November. We’re working together as the Iowa Team to deliver principled solutions for Iowa families, and Dave will bring those solutions to the people of Polk County.”

Funk was an Officer and attack helicopter pilot with the Iowa Army National Guard, and air show pilot, and a Boeing 757 Captain for Northwest Airlines. He is now an aviation consultant and a volunteer Reserve Police Officer with the Pleasant Hill Police Department. He lives with his wife Sheila and their family outside of Runnells.
