Braley Campaign: Des Moines Register Poll Shows Braley Leads Whalen by 7 Percent 9/17/2006 Contact: Jeff Giertz (319) 830-6666 Waterloo, Iowa – Today the Des Moines Register published the results of their Iowa Poll for the First Congressional District race. The poll shows Democrat Bruce Braley leading Republican CEO Mike Whalen by 7 points: 44 percent to 37 percent. Furthermore, independent voters broke for Braley by a 10-point margin, 42 percent to 32 percent. “Clearly, Iowans are ready for a new direction,” Braley said. “Clearly the false, negative personal attacks launched by my opponent have had no effect on this race. Eastern Iowans know that I will stand up in Congress to raise the minimum wage and protect Social Security from risky privatization schemes. I will be a strong, independent voice to bring change to Washington.” Details of the Register’s Iowa Poll can be viewed at the following website: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006609170340 |
