  • BARACK OBAMA -- $633,973 total
The Illinois senator's report listed more Iowa-related expenditures than any other candidate, but a large part of that can be attributed to expenditures that weren't directly related to Iowa events. His campaign points out that an Iowa consulting firm helped with the senator's entire announcement tour -- including large events in New Hampshire, Chicago and Springfield, Ill. -- meaning the total includes a chunk of money spent on events in other states. Obama's report lists a total of $270,093 to Caudill Consulting Ltd. in Des Moines, including one payment of $248,662 on Feb. 16, right around the time of his announcement tour.

Obama's report listed $152,966 in payroll to 52 Iowa staffers. Seventeen staffers received more than two payments: Andrew Wiese, Chelsea Kammerer, Derek Eadon, Emily Parcell, Franny Starkey, Jillian Dykhoff, Katie Ingebretson, Marygrace Galston, Michael Keane, Mitch Stewart, Nickolas Meyer, Paul Tewes, Quinn Staudt, Rohan Patel, Simeon Talley, Steve Chasse and Thomas Vietor.
